Publicly Pinoy (in Houston): STOP, LOOK and LISTEN!

Publicly Pinoy (in Houston): STOP, LOOK and LISTEN!

STOP, LOOK and LISTEN!

It is always feels great to have new things. One tends to forget the old gadget while focusing on the new specs. But after the excitement dies down, you are back to the reality that you have to deal with both the old and the new.

Archiving the old won't help, but saving them in the "favorites" would certainly be cool.

Right now, there is a lot of excitement in the Philippines.  Those who supported Noynoy are certainly feeling the euphoria.  I have heard a lot of suggestions already on what to focus first, education, corruption, military, etc. So many things for 6 years to accomplish. The worst is, a thousand expectations for the "new messiah."

The only thing that most of us tend to forget is, it is easier said than done.

Well, considering the kind of political system that we have, priorities comes because of the personal interests. Take for instance the case of COPA. Why in the world is he (forgot his name) parading the fact that they have supported Binay and Noynoy thereby extolling their knowledge on "how to screw up a friend" scheme. People or organizations like this is an old problem that has no solution.

Jockeying for a juicy position is another problem that will crop up later. And it's going to be bloody and fiery. Factions against principles would be the next mantra.

Looking at it from the outside (geographically), we Pinoys from here are only hoping for the best. It is not best also for me, or us to keep on criticizing without any alternative solutions.

I think the best strategy this time would be to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN, other than, STOP, DROP and ROLL.

BROADER SENSE, WICKED DEED

The First Family and the Speaker are missing the point. Though they can financial justify the buying of residential property in the US, yet they are missing the point. They are supposed to be the example of prudence, yet they flaunt their status (and they tried hiding it). This is simply a misuse of values (not of money of course, since they can justify it)

When are they going to learn that Filipinos are poor and they should act like one too? I don't know who they represent.

A case of Fat Wallet, yet empty values.

Dinner Dime

Its so amazing how Malacanang justifies her lavish expenses when in fact Filipinos in the US are having a tough time to meet both ends. These congressmen are simply not showing respect for our hard earned money.
Speaker Nograles was trying to justify and look into the accounts of those "dinner sponsors" directly showing us that they can afford to lavishly treat the President and her entourage to dinner. But from where did they get that money? Most of it for sure are from the tax payers like us.
Right now, when going out for dinner, all we can afford is a chinese buffett of $20.00. I hardly heard fillipino families spend so lavishly for dinner. $20,000 is simply scandalous and not acceptable.
I wonder what these government officials are thinking? They simply don't have respect and guts to be simply.
As Conrado de Quiros would say, "May araw din kayo."

Oppss Senator (?) Wrong Mistake

I have my own mistakes (personal and grammar), but I would expect a lot to senators to be more correct when speaking.

For the past two days of TV patrol coverage I have noticed how incorrect were the statements of Senator-elect ALLAN PETER CAYETANO, and Senatoriable MIGUEL ZUBIRI.

1. When Allan Peter Cayetano was commenting on his ordeal during the campaign and how other people tried to screw his name, this is all he had to say, "Thanks that there is God who believes in Justice."

WHAT???? Where in the heck did you get that logical parallelism? God does not believe in justice. He is justice. He is just. He can't believe in justice. OK? He does not need to believe in justice because HE IS JUSTICE? Get it Senator?

2. When MIGZ SUBIRI was exchanging tirades with KOKO PIMENTEL on who is going to win the 12th spot and who is cheating, he said.

"He should be careful, my lawyers are looking whether we could file a libel suit against him. Remember, he is not yet a senator, HE HAS NO AMNESTY YET?

WHAT???? Was KOKO PIMENTEL a REBEL that needs amnesty? C'mon, Migz, you are better than your good looks.

Or probably you were saying. HE HAS NO IMMUNITY YET.

Without there their legal staff, indeed some senators-to-be are lost in their own worlds of "tabula rasa"

So Brazen, So Bold

In the age of the internet and text messages, how in the world that the election system in the Philippines is so medieval, even pre-historic. The news of computerization years ago was a welcome relief only to fall short from the same and usual culprit, political corruption. For one reason or another, everything was a suspect.
And look at what happened in our election processs. We may have the most open and democratic election, but we too are the most candid and persistent of holding on the post even up tot he point of killing. Cheating has never been a problem. Cheaters never had a problem doing it.
Mistrust is so rampant that everybody is a suspect. We can't even know who is telling the truth.
The honorable value of accepting a defeat and saying sorry is a thing of the past. Everybody is right. To accept defeat and to loss is an experience of hiya, so huge that it would mean death.
How does this happen?
This is probably part of our survival instinct. We want to live and living no matter what is the cost.
We have seen that only the rich and powerful gets to enjoy the fruits of fame and famousness. The poor got famine and flat face. Why not sell the vote. Why not tell a lie, why not hold on to violence. Am I not entitled to it?
Why so brazen, why so bold?
We don't want to be caught dying, we don't want to be caught crying.
So brazen, so bold.
