So Brazen, So Bold

In the age of the internet and text messages, how in the world that the election system in the Philippines is so medieval, even pre-historic. The news of computerization years ago was a welcome relief only to fall short from the same and usual culprit, political corruption. For one reason or another, everything was a suspect.

And look at what happened in our election processs. We may have the most open and democratic election, but we too are the most candid and persistent of holding on the post even up tot he point of killing. Cheating has never been a problem. Cheaters never had a problem doing it.

Mistrust is so rampant that everybody is a suspect. We can't even know who is telling the truth.

The honorable value of accepting a defeat and saying sorry is a thing of the past. Everybody is right. To accept defeat and to loss is an experience of hiya, so huge that it would mean death.

How does this happen?

This is probably part of our survival instinct. We want to live and living no matter what is the cost.

We have seen that only the rich and powerful gets to enjoy the fruits of fame and famousness. The poor got famine and flat face. Why not sell the vote. Why not tell a lie, why not hold on to violence. Am I not entitled to it?

Why so brazen, why so bold?

We don't want to be caught dying, we don't want to be caught crying.

So brazen, so bold.
